AZIENDA AGRICOLA DIEGALE

Our Vineyards

In the first days spent at the estate, walking through the various plots with me, Paola, and our two dogs Ciarli and Bò, we decided to identify the future vineyard fields with names reflecting the feelings we experienced at the time.

Sensations conveyed by the soil, the vegetation, the climatic conditions, the exposure, and last but not least, the emotional ones.

THE VINEYARDS

GRENACHE

Conical or cylindrical cluster of medium size, round berry with a black-violet color and thin skin; the wine has a fruity taste with a light color.

VERMENTINO

Medium-large berry, winged conical cluster, medium-thick skin, color ranging from greenish-yellow to golden, turning amber when well exposed to the sun.

CHARDONNAY

Medium-small berry, white grape with thin skin, yellow-amber color. Cluster medium-small, cylindrical-conical in shape, imparting many fruity aromas to the wine.

SYRAH

Medium-small oval berry, medium-elongated cluster with blue-black skin, imparting violet hues to the wine.

PINOT NERO

Compact cluster of dark blue color, thin skin, modest coloring capacity, pronounced acidity. A grape variety difficult to cultivate and vinify, especially in Maremma.

CABERNET FRANC

Medium-sized pyramidal cluster, berries of uneven size, very resistant blue-black skin. Imparts a ruby-red color to the wine with vegetal and red fruit aromas.

SANGIOVESE

One of the most important and widespread grape varieties in Italy. Dark-skinned grape, medium-large berry of regular shape, very thick black-violet skin. The wine develops a ruby color up to four to five years, then tends toward garnet.
